Larry Mayo was part of a team of scientists that started long-term studies of the Gulkana Glacier beginning in the early 1960’s. Larry visited the glacier multiple times every year throughout his career working for the U.S. Geological Survey. His wife Gail recalls bundling up their three children to winter camp at the glacier many times over the years. Larry loved to fly and took photographs of glaciers throughout Alaska from his Cessna 180.
