Made in 2026 as a response to learning about recently active and closed mining claims on and around the glacier. The marker mirrors language often printed or etched onto a metal claim or tag, which I printed on a photo transparency and layered over a piece of hand-cut scrap aluminum. The to right is a photograph shared by Klara Maisch, from a smoky day she visited with the glacier. The final layer is a screenshot from the Alaska Mining Claims Mapper, an interactive GIS website, with red pickaxe squares indicating closed claims.
